Window acs (given same tonnage) surely DO outperform split acs in terms of efficiency since a window ac’s compressor doesn’t have to deal with tubing, since its outdoor and indoor unit are right next to each other. Compare this to a split ac that has to pump refrigerant all the way from the outdoor to the indoor unit which can be several feet. That increases the energy consumption of the compressor considerably (I don’t know why ISEER ratings for split acs are higher than those of window acs).

    In any case, if one wants less power consumption they should go for variable speed drive compressors a.k.a Inverter acs that adjust the speed according to temperature.
